No, these costs will not be refunded. Only drugs that have been prescribed by a medical professional will be reimbursed, as long as it is not for the treatment of pre-existing conditions. Medications that have no relationship to the medical care provided, as prescribed, would also not be covered.
2.- If the beneficiary communicates to report an accident and the voucher has expired, will they receive any type of assistance?
The Emergency Management Center will coordinate the service as requested by the beneficiary, however all costs must be covered by them.
3.- What are the documents to be submitted by the beneficiary for total lost luggage that was under care of an airline?
The beneficiary must file the PIR (Property Irregularity Report) and original copy of the receipt of compensation from the airline.
4.- What is the period of time when the benefits in the voucher can be obtained?
The period of validity is the time period during which the benefits can be obtained, which is the period from 00:00 hours of the departure outside the country of permanent residence, to 23:59 hours of the return date specified in the same voucher.
5.- What are the valid reasons for cancellation of a booked trip?
The death, accident or serious illness of the beneficiary, or first degree of consanguinity (spouse, siblings, children or parents), being called as part of witness or juror of a court, fire damage or theft/robbery or damages caused by force of nature, and medical quarantine. 6.- When does the benefit for delayed or cancelled flight apply and what does it cover?
It applies when the beneficiary’s flight has been delayed for more than 6 consecutive hours, counting from the originally scheduled time for departure, and as long as there is no alternative transportation. The coverage extends to hotel costs, meals and communications during the waiting period.
7.- What kind of legal assistance in case of traffic accident does the Emergency Management Center offers to the beneficiary?
The benefit covers the expenses related to civil or criminal defense of the beneficiary in order to impute or exonerate them for the responsibility in a traffic accident.
8.- When does the sanitary repatriation/transportation is applicable?
Whenever the medical team from the Emergency Management Center deems it absolutely necessary, as long as the motive is a preexistent condition.
9.- If the beneficiary wants to be repatriated but the Emergency Management Center has not authorized it, could the beneficiary proceed by reimbursement and submit documents once back in their country of origin?
No, all costs of repatriation must be authorized only by the Emergency Management Center according to the patient’s medical condition.
